Corrupt iCal, won't open...?

I'm in Snow Leopard, stable as a rock.

I haven't been able to use my iCal for awhile. When I launch it a pop-up menu appears (with iCal in the background). Pop-up menu says (at the top) 'Add events', Then: "This calendar contains new events. Please select a destination calendar:" and then there is a drop down menu with all my old events .. though if I click one the pop-up automatically returns to 'home'. There is a cancel and an OK, neither of which works.

I trashed my 'preferences'. Same problem.

Is there a way to reinstall iCal? Or is that in fact my solution?
