Selling my old iPhone 4 and want to know if i can clear the "ESN"?

I have recently purchased an iPhone 5 and now have an iPhone 4 of which I would like to sell so i can put some more money towards buying an iPad mini. It's a Verizon iPhone 4 and from what I understand, it has an "ESN" (not totally sure what it is), but i was wondering if I needed to clear the ESN before selling it? Because when i turn the phone on, it still shows that it connects to the Verizon network, and has my phone number still on it. Does the ESN have anything to do with my cell phone number and such?

iPhone 4, iOS 6.0.1, 16GB CDMA Black

ESN is Electronic Serial Number. It is how Verizon recognizes your phone. The ESN is permanently part of the phone. You need to call Verizon to and ask them to deactivate the phone from your account.
