making my 5th generation ipod work...?

so im trying to sync music to my 5th generation ipod, but it wont do this untill i upgrade my itunes to 10.7 or higher, but to upgrade my itunes i have to upgrade my software to OS 10.6.8, but to download that i need upgrade to 10.6 which costs me money... to be honest after paying all that money for a computer and ipod im not willing to pay more for syncing my ipod when i could probably do it for free on a windows itunes, which makes me feel im being extremely ripped off, any ideas on what i can do?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities

What OS X version have you got? Go to  > About this Mac and copy Version. iTunes 10.7 or later is required for your device. Snow Leopard was released on 2009, and your OS X version hasn't got any support, so it's time to upgrade

Syncing with iTunes on a Mac or PC requires:

Mac: OS X v10.6.8 or later
PC: Windows 7; Windows Vista; or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3 or later
iTunes 10.7 or later⁷ (free download from www.itunes.com/download)

Snow Leopard was released over three years ago. It costs $20.

I don't consider budgeting an additional 50¢ a month for a much more capable operating system amounts to being "extremely ripped off" but to each his own.

For some of us, its not a matter of money. I have a PowerPC, not Intel, so I can't run snow leopard. Is there any way to sync with a non-intel Mac?
