I just purchased an ipad mini and was surprised that I cannot seem to login to game center with the same nickname (associated already with my apple ID) that I use on my iPhone. Am I missing something?

Did you ever figure out to fix your problem I also have the same problem?
I did not. I gave up shortly afterwards and never tried again.
