My wife's macbook pro cuerrently has nothing tin the system/library/extensions folder. This results in error messages when new software is installed or updatwes applied.
However the machine works fine but I would like to see the back of these error messages.
I think the problem arose when we were new to macs and tried installing creative suite 4.

The folder you reference (Macintosh HD>library>extensions) is also empty on my iMac. I don't know where your "error messages" are located, however.

You should have most of the following files. If not, then an OS reinstallation is highly recommended as many I/O features and core hardware support will be malfuntioning without these files (in fact, it's hard to believe the system even boots properly without these files):

Both /System/Library/Extensions
and /Library/Extensions contain important system files.
My MacBook Air also has a long list of files in the system/library/extensions folder. Perhaps I'll find these files somewhere else on the MacBook Pro???
