In Mountain Lion, iChat was replaced so now it's Messsages. You can use it to talk with an iPhone, iPod touch, iPad or Mac with Messages application, but you can also configure a Jabber, Google Talk, AIM or Yahoo! account to talk with people with other computers

HI,

iChat or Messages will Video chat to legacy versions of AIM for PC (AIM 7.x.x.x. and earlier) and Trillian with the Pro add-on to Video chat.

Jabber and Yahoo Chats are text only.

The iChat Server is a Jabber server so Jabber Buddies could be added to the client users Buddy Lists.
