my Iphone 5 power button is not responding appropriately? It only works half the time I press it?

hi,

I had the iphone for 2 months now. the power button started to loose reposponisvness so that now it only responds half the time if not quarter the time?

I tried to restore the software, but nothing changes here? I guess it is a hardware problem? Anyone having the same issue.... ohh and yes I did not drop the phone.. it is brand new not even a scratch.

iPhone 5, iOS 6.0.1

Restore you did confirms hardware problem which is covered by Warranty, make Genius reservation and take to Apple for resolution. Until then you can use Virtual Power button, tap Settings App > General > Accessibility > Assistive Touch > ON > tap new white screen button > Device > Lock icon. It can even turn OFF iPhone. To turn ON iPhone connect to power ie charger or USB of computer.
