Audio volume from headphone jack very low-Mac book air 2011

I have been using a 2011 Macbook air since the past one and a half years .The laptop has been flawless till no . however since last week the volume of the sound coming out of the headphone jack was extreamly low . This happens irrespective of any headphones that i use . The external speakers are absolutely normal . The problem is either with the headphone jack itself or OS related . I have tried a lot of fixes that have been mentioned on this forum as well as other places in on the web . nothing has worked so far . I would really apreciate it if some one can help me with this .

MacBook Air (13-INCH, MID 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.5)

You may have to take the MB Air to the Apple store to have the MB AIr checked out.

This is my last "Hail Mary" attemt to see if any one else has this very same problem . Think have to ultimately take it to the store to get it fixed

It looks like you have taken all the standard troubleshooting steps like resetting PRAM,SMC and volume

in sound/system preferences. The next best action I could suggest was to contact Apple.

Take it to the Apple store. Inconvenient but the problem can be resolved.
