Trying to import photos from Carbonite backup

I am trying to import photos that I downloaded from a Carbonite restore. When I try to import the photos, it runs through a majority of them. But at some point, it says that I don't have enough space on my hard drive. Then it cancels, and no photos are imported. The kicker is, I have over 270GB of space on my HD.

I am really stuck. I followed all the steps that it says on their website. I've tried putting the file directly in to the Pictures folder. I've tried going through iPhoto import. I've even tried selected the file as a new library.

I could really use some help. Thank you

The most like situattion is that you

don't have enough space on my hard drive

How much free space do you have? if it is less than 10GB then you must free up space or you will damage your system and lose files and photos

the usual best way is to move your iphoto library to an external hard drive -

Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)

And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto

And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

I have over 270GB of free space. I've tried all of the suggestions on the forums. Right now, I tried creating a new library, and dragging and dropping the "Masters" folder in to iPhoto. It all imported, but right now it's stuck at "Finishing Import." When I put the mouse over Events, it says (174). When I put it over photos, it says (0). And when I click on both, it's empty. I went in to the package contents of the library, and the pictures are there, but for some reason, they are all under the album "2012" where as in the original Masters folder, it's broken up by year starting in 2004.
