I bought the $100 insurance for iphone where I pay $50 to fix it. I recently dropped it in a fire pit. Will my insurance cover me?

Are you referring to "AppleCare +"? That program is not insurance. Regardless, AppleCare+ will cover the incident that you noted.

To make an AppleCare+ accidental damage claim, remember that you may have to physically have the damaged device to turn in for the exchange. Just saying, don't forget to dig whatever is left out of the firepit and take it with you, as they can ask to see the damaged unit as part of the process of evaluating your claim.
