Stopping the daily alarm in a calendared automator workflow

I created an calendar type automator workflow that backs up my financial data daily. It works well. When the workflow was created in Calendar it created an alarm. I tried deleting the alarm and my workflow then ceases to operate. I tried unchecking the automator calendar on my iphones and in iCloud and on my Mac but the alarm still rings. Must I live with the alarm?
