Selling a Bare Fusion Drive in the future?
Hello, does Apple have any plans to selling bare Fusion Drives in the future and if so, what will be their pricing and which systems are compatiable with it? Thank you for your time.

Unfortunately, nobody can reliably predict what Apple will do until they make a formal announcement.
Apple's Fusion Drive is actially two drives "fused" together. You could buy a hybrid drive right now and put it in your Mac. See here http://www.macworld.com/article/2013805/fusion-drive-an-overview.html
Okay, will it work with this model:

This drive http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Seagate/ST750LX003/ should be a direct replacement for your existing 2.5" drive. Apple's Fusion technology involves software also, so while you'll be able to take advantage of the flash ram for a start up drive and the platters for storage you won't be able to actually run Apple's Fusion technology.
Oh, I see. Do you know if there's a 1TB hybrid drive available?
The biggest I found was the 750, but that doesn't mean that one isn't out there .
I haven't found it and I hope that they come out with one soon, because I have 1TB in my laptop.
The downside with hybrid drives is that they're still mechanical drives and, therefore, prone to failure. My MacBook went through three of them. Assuming you can wait, it would be well worth investing in a pure SSD. OWC sells its Mercury Electra in sizes up to 960GB, so the size (if not the price) is right in the ballpark.
My Intel Series 320 600GB SSD for the Mid-2007 MacBook was a great investment.
I can't afford the Mercury Electra, so I'll wait until it comes out.
