with the new itunes how can i see or find out how many songs i have in my itunes library?

View, Enable Status Bar
Then the grey bar will appear at the bottom of the itunes window showing the size and number of whatever you have selected
for example my music displays 4036 items, 10.3 days, 28.64 GB
