ITunes getting stuck - No Automatic downloads

I am not able to download my purchases i made on my ipad to my PC with the latest version of ITunes. I am from India and the ITunes store launched recently. Everytime i try to select automatic downloads for music in preferences, the ITunes freezes. When i open the ITunes software, if i dont immediately stop the application from "Accessing ITunes store", it gets stuck all the time
