ipod classic won't sync to itunes 11

I am copying from source without converting but most of my stuff is 56kb audiobooks or 128kb music anyway.

I have now got my iPod synching manually using iTunes version 11 on my Windows XP laptop - it still will not synch automatically. If I connect the iPod to my Win 7 pc it simply isn't recognised and ejects itself almost immediatly.

Basically I am rebuilding my library from originals and backups and synching it a folder or playlist at a time.

If ypu have a better solution please let me know...

I have exactly the same problem on Win 7 64 bit. When trying to sync it always gets stuck on the 2nd track (no matter which one that is), loads for 5 minutes until the bar is full and then just gets stuck. To make it worse I found I could import an album by doing it manually and then found that it has deleted everything else on the ipod except that so now I am stuck with almost nothing. I'm so angry that this could happen with an upgrade. My library is to big to fit on the ipod when unchecking 128bit AAC!

I have the same problem (ipod stops synching after two tracks) on my 80GB ipod Classic. My itunes library is stored on a Windows 7 desktop PC.

It seems to be a common problem.

I have win7 64 bit with the latest itunes, and when I connect my ipod classic 80g itunes does nothing to find my ipod. Not sure what I can do to sync it with my library anymore.

Suddenly, my ipod is worthless for any new music.

I had the same problem with my iPod Classic (dated 2005).

I solved it by switching off "enable disk use" in the iTunes summary window that appears when you connect the Ipod to iTunes.

Okay, I have unchecked both things already mentined and mine still won't sync. It says it is , then the ipod is still empty. Any more suggestions?

I finally got a few things to sync on my ipod but still not everything. Also some things are in the playlist but when I connect the ipod thoses aren't in the playlist to choose from anymore. Also some of the audio books are on itunes but when the ipod is connected they don'tshow up to choose from either. All of this worked perfectly for the couple of years before this latest update! Apple, get this fixed or you are going to lose customers!!!

I have iMac mid-2011 with Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and iTunes 11.0.1 and iPod Classic 120GB with Software Version 2.0.1. I have over 120GB of music that I want to sync so have to convert to 128kbps AAC. Ever since I've updgraded to 11.0.1 I'm not able to sync my iPod. After several reset/restore, I still keep getting to where it syncs up to 2 of...and stalls.

Has anyone found a fix?

Are you also converting higher bit songs to 128 kpbs? I believe that's where many of us are getting hung up. We can sync without converting. We simply can't however when we try to convert...

Unf no. I'm willing to bet this is a Jan iTunes update sort of fix given timing. Fingers crossed here. My problem is exactly what you're describing.

Yes, that's exactly my situation. I'm converting to 128kbps and the sync stalls. I then tried to sync by unchecking the convert option & my iPod classic completed the sync. But I don't have my whole music library on the iPod.

Running a brand new Windows 8 PC and having same issue with my 160GB iPod Classic as well as my wifes and our older 80Gb Claiics as well. Issue seems to be being ignored by Apple at this stage.

Yes. Most of my music is 320kbps and downconverting to 128kbps to my iPod classic 160. "Jo4033"'s tip resolved my issue. Prior to that, wasn't able to sync.
