can not import my photos from pc(via migration) and have given up on that, now found my camcorder is not compatable with iMovie, does anyone know of another movie type app that might work for an incompatible camcorder ? That camera must connect via Firewire cable.

This camera works on Macs. It is a standard definition DV tape camera. However, you need a Firewire port. Not all Macs have a Firewire port, but most iMacs do. Some of the laptops do not.

Check to see if you have a Firewire port on your Mac. You can click /About This Mac/More Info/System Report to tell for sure.

If you have a Firewire 400 port, you need a 4 pin to 6 pin Firewire cable.

If you have a Firewire 800 port, you need a 4 pin to 9 pin Firewire cable.

Your Sony camera will have an IEEE 1394 port. This is what Sony calls Firewire and this is where you use the 4 pin end of the cable.

Firewire cables are available inexpensively here.

Some recents Macs only have a Thunderbolt port. There are Thunderbolt to Firewire adaptors available, but I have not tried them.

To import from this camera, attach it via Firewire Cable. Set the mode to Playback. Camera must be plugged in to AC power (not batteries only.) Use FILE/IMPORT FROM CAMERA.
