How to change terminal to csh or tcsh as default login
My hard drive failed & when I reinstalled OS X the terminal default is bash, which i am not familar with. Before the failure I was using the tcsh. How do I make the terminal default login /bin/csh or /bin/tcsh ? Thanks
The command 'chsh' will open a config file (in a text editor) that contains an entry that specifies your default shell. Or you can use Netinfo Manager (in Applications/Utilities) to edit the Shell of your user.
Thanks for the reply, but chsh -s /bin/tcsh did not fix it, but it said the netinfo had been updated. However when I quit Terminal and restart it it is still in bash.
Sorry for the delay in getting back to everyone. Thanks to all. The final trick is you have to log off after making the change. It never occurred to me. Everything is now back to normal. Thanks to everyone. You are a great group.
