New Itunes 11 won't drag playlist to Nano

I just downloaded the New Itunes 11 and I can not drag and drop my playlists onto my Nano Ipod.

Does anyone else have this problem?

It is using software 1.0.4

iPod nano (5th generation), Mac OS X (10.7.5), New iTunes

Same problem. I can drag and drop onto my iPhone 3G (at the top right) when it's connected, but dragging onto my iPod does nothing.

iTunes 11.0 (163)

iPod software version 1.1.3

iPod Nano 2G (3GB free space)

Mac OS X 10.7.5

Tried:

- setting "Manually manage music" (no good)

- dragging individual songs instead of playlists (no good)

- updating iPod software (already latest version)

Found a workaround:

When managing music on the iPod manually isn't working:

- select the iPod in the top right

- select Music in the top menu

- check "Sync Music"

- select "selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres"

- scroll down to select content to sync

This doesn't restore the ability to add individual songs to the iPod, but it did allow me to use a different method for getting playlists onto the iPod successfully.

Good luck.

Thank you so much! I asked in the apple shop yesterday about this problem and the guy in there couldn't even help me! He wanted me to change my settings, didn't even know you could 'manually manage music and videos', said he had never heard of it down that way, can you believe that! You have solved a problem that has been driving me nuts for weeks, thanks again 🙂

To Nich2002 -- This works.

What's wrong with these people? They keep working to make their site LOOK better! ARE THEY COMPLETE MORONS? I don't download songs and audiobooks to LOOK AT THEM ON MY COMPUTER! If I can't get them onto my device, THEY ARE USELESS!

And, yes, I know I'm yelling! I'm mad as all getout. I've been using an iPod since the early part of this millenium, and before that I used an old Audible Otis which is STILL easier to use than this obnoxious mess (even if it won't hold more than one audiobook at a time, and yes, I have one that still works.)

Arrrgh.

Okay, enough venting. Thanks for the fix.

A couple of things to do/check:

1. Make sure you have "Manually manage music and videos" checked under options for the device you want to transfer songs/playlists to.

2. You have to have direct access to the song files (either on you computer's hard drive, or a connected external storage drive)...

If you have iTunes match, the songs need to be downloaded to your computer, they will not transfer to your device from iCloud. So, if there is a little cloud icon next to the songs you want to transfer, you will need to download them first.

Now you should be able to drag and drop to your device. You can use the traditional sidebar, or simply grab the song/playlist and drag it to the right side of the iTunes window and a small side window will slide open with a list of available devices you can drop it in.

Just downloaded the new itunes and am having problems option-dragging files from my hard drive into itunes on my computer. I have tried the above suggestions, logging out of itunes, showing sidebar etc. Nothing works. My files only "Copy", instead of just adding the files. Do you have a solution for this? Thank You!
