Drive issues (apple driver recovery mode)

Hi - I am not good with phones etc. I bought a new wireless modem and was having trouble connecting it to wifi last night so plugged it into itunes to run any updates incase this was the problem. Something happened and now on the front screen of my iphone (3) i have a picture of a USB cable with an arrow pointing to the itunes logo. When i try to turn it on this is what comes up. Any idea where I can get the driver from? It asks me for the disk my phone came with. It was a hand me down from my mother, so I do not have it. I have updated itunes and even tried doing the resore phone from the itunes site, but to no avail.

Any ideas?

Try Uninstalling iTunes and all of its components as by following this guide exactly: Windows XP or Windows Vista/7, then reinstall iTunes. You must follow this guide exactly or it may not be successful. Note: uninstalling iTunes will only remove the application; it will not touch your iTunes library or data.

didn't work. phone still has image on front and asks for driver. will the driver be on itunes?

Is the phone asking for a driver or is your computer asking for a driver when you plug it in?

the computer. My phone is stuck on the picture of the USB cable pointing to the itunes logo. I have tried holding the home button and the on off button. starting to get a bit nervous my phone is kaput! 😟

Assuming you're running Windows, try following the troubleshooting steps in #5 at the bottom of this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538, under "If the device is not recognized while in Recovery Mode".
