rotating text on a chart

I'm working on a chart in Keynote, and would like to rotate the x axis text to fit longer labels into the chart. I don't seem to be able to find ny way to do this. Am I missing something here?

you will have to add an additional text box and rotate it

> select the text box > press command key then drag the handle to rotate;

additionaly, pressing the shift key at the same time snaps the rotation in 45 degree angles
