How do I get iPhone to not set up alerts based on my GCal reminders?

I have e-mail reminders set up in my Google Calendar, and I have GCal set up on my iPhone (via the GMail account setup, not Exchange). Now the phone has set up alerts based on those e-mail reminders. How do I get rid of them without getting rid of my e-mail reminders?
