Dec 11, 2012 2:11 PM in response to rachelvrnez666by Finizio56,Same thing happened to me today. But allthat was left was last 5 songs I bought: I was lucky I have my music on another file in my compture and imported it in to itunes, but it destroyed my icloud apps, books, etc. This is kind of pathetic as this seems to be rampant, and they ask you every time to update and when you do it erases everything. I lost all my play lists etc, I´m going to try and export from my ipad and iphone onto itunes, but I have to research it first as I am starting to not trust this company as they release everything with major glitches, and then say oh sorry. How about testing it first?

Dec 11, 2012 2:18 PM in response to Finizio56by rmgman,I feel sorry that this happened to both of you. Finizio was wise to keep his files duplicated somwhere else. This is why I use the program Carbon Copy Cloner to make an exact duplicate of my hard drive to an external drive before I attempt any software updates. This way, I always have something to back up on. This is not a distrust of Apple products, but the knowledge of Murphy's Law.
Neither of you state if you had TimeMachine running either.
For the future, get yourself Carbon Copy Cloner at this link:
