how can I set a limit for my childs spending on apps?

My son is 11, and to create his apple id I had to use my credit card. I have seen some charges for apps that he has made without my permission. I am wondering how/if I can set a parental control for this issue. Like, is it possible to set a spending limit for aps? How could I go about doing that if possible?
