my sound isn't working

Hello, I can't seem to get my sound to work. There is sounds when I am listening though headphones, but not when I take the headphones out. When I go to my system preferences and go to sound output, digital out is the only option I have as opposed to internal speakers. Does anyone have an idea how to get the sound back? Thanks!
