the camera shutter on Iphone 5 won't open

The camera shutter on my Iphone 5 won't open. It did at first and I successfully took 5 pictures and even posted them. But then it just stopped. other forums say I need to get a replacement but I'm hoping that isn't the case. I've tried the turning it off and turning it on etc. but nothing seems to help... any thoughts?
