Your website should still be available on the net, whatever has happened to your Mac: but iWeb cannot open the html files which constitute the published website. If you have lost the 'Domain' file in which iWeb keeps its data (which lives by default in (user)/Library/Application Support/iWeb) you will have to recreate the site from scratch, copying the published text and images into iWeb as you recreate the formatting.

    Hi Roger,

I had this problem happen and iWeb won't open the original domain file i had backed up. At this point with iWeb no longer being supported by Apple I think it best o recreate my website through another provider....My question is what happens to the iWeb website when I launch a new website with my domain name? Is there anyway  to completely delete the original website without iWeb access? Hope you can help! Thanks

You don't need access to iWeb to delete a published website - if you already have a site, then go to your hosting provider and delete the published files from your server.

The only thing you will need is an ftp programme such as Cyberduck, Yummy FTP or Transmit and just connect to your host and then delete the files from your server and once you have built your new site, upload the new site files to your server and your new website will be up and running.

iWeb is not part of this process.
