How do I know if I have iOS 5 on my iPad. Some of my apps wont update saying I need ios5 but I have no software update on my settings/general tab

My apps on my iPad won't update saying I need ios5. There is no software update tab available under my setting/general tab. How do I update?

Settings>General>About>Version will tell you what iOS you have,


You only have the Software Update option if you are already running iOS 5. If you are trying to update the iOS, you have to use iTunes on a computer to update the iPad.

Or you can connect the iPad to the computer, launch iTunes. Select the iPad under the devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update
