Hello we upgraded to Mountain Lion and now IDVD and Applie iWorks 6 no longer works, how can we go back to Leopard or Snow Leopard smoothly? What all do we need to do this? Thank you!

What version of OS X was installed on the computer when it originally arrived? If it was Snow Leopard or earlier then you can find loads of tutorial by using Google. For example here is one I located on Youtube.com
When installing app's on the snow leopard drive you will want to be running (booted from) the snow leopard drive then you would install app's just as you would normally

Well you definitely should go into IT, this is helpful more helpful than apple care since they don't want you to switch back. That would be helpful for others if you posted it there.

No, I have traded & upgraded over the years at one point I even had a Radius 8110 (which was a Apple licensed clone).

I am currently in negotiations with a builder for the redesign of his website & marketing tools. So, with any luck something should pan out around the 1st of the year.

Jeff I just went and bought a external hard drive, she said it's better to partition the iMAC do you know how to do that?
To partition a hard drive would be done disc utility (found in the utilities folder)
But, me personally I would just run Snow Leopard from the external drive

Yeah, you should have no issue with running Snow Leopard from an external drive. I wouldn't bother trying to partition the internal drive.
Running Snow Leopard on a partition on your internal drive might be slightly faster. But, the external is an easier solution
