HAve there been know SMB issues with communication MAC OS 10.6.8

Has anyone ever had an issue with MAC OS (10.6.8) communicating with smb server volumes?

Mostly communicating with server; copying, saving files. Multiple error messages. connecting to and from. All over office network (ethernet based). Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8), MAC PRO INTEL / MAC BOOK PRO
