I had the same or similar problem after installin iTunes 11 on my Acer Laptop with Vista. The new iTunes ran but I

completely lost access to my CdRom/DVD drive. Error Code 19 was displayed in Windows Device Manager. Found out

this is more widespread of a problem than expected. After trying several forum recommended fixes, the Only thing that gave me back my CdRom drive was doing a Windows Restore to a date prior to iTunes 11 install. I got my drive back but it also restored me to the prior 10.0.7.21 vers of iTunes which no longer worked due to missing files. iTunes help

recommended a Reinstall. I am reluctant to do that for several reason. That's where I am at for now until I find out if there are any other risks for using iTunes 11 vs. Registry Errors vs. Losing access to my CdRom drive. Brad

I tried a system restore, but my history didn't go back far enough to solve the problem, and apart from that, for some reason, the system restore couldn't complete for some reason.

Well done Apple, for messing my computer up for me!

I'm waiting for Dell to get back to me to see if they have any other ideas, but the way it's looking, it could be a Windows reinstallation.

If that's the case, I certainly won't be reloading iTunes though! I'll use the old version on my desktop.

If I find a solution, I'll post it on the forum.

You need to delete the UpperFilters and LowerFilters, This is only a temporary patch the minute the newest itunes update shows, or you reinstall itunes the cd burner will disappeared and you will get error 19 again.. I'm using windows 7 and this has work to resolve the issue: Attached are the two links fot the repair.

Apple seem to have created a real monster here. When I removed the Upper and Lower Filters, my Bluetooth stopped working. Fortunately, I found that, in Windows 7, the System Restore rarely works in normal mode, so I ran it in safe mode and I was able to restore the system and get my Bluetooth back.

I now have iTunes installed and partially working. The only thing now is that, when I start iTunes, I get a message saying that iTunes wasn't installed correctly and I need to reinstall it, as it will not be able to import music or burn disks. In fact, I can import music, but I can't burn disks from iTunes. However, once I have imported a CD into iTunes, I can burn it onto disk from Windows Media Player.

I think I am going to wait an see if iTunes can fix this in their next update.
