how to turn off phone to reset when sleep button doesnt work

Get the sleep button repaired or exchange the phone. This is a hardware problem, not software. The only other way is to run the battery all the way down until the phone shuts off.

Have the same problem, but it works sometimes not others... Believe there's an app disabling it. Could also be a faulty button, but is that a common failure mode?
