Email programs substituting bogus email addresses

Email programs (Apple native) on my computer and online (Yahoo) are substituting bogus email addresses for known correspondents, as soon as I begin to type names. The bogus ones are similar to the real ones.

What is this? Dangerous? Solution? thx
