garageband error-36?

Hello GB Community,

Recently I get Error-36 if I try to record anything in GB. It keeps popping up after I dismiss the dialouge and once I press stop I get an Error-36 for the sound (something like :

Result code = -36

File = Clean Combo#02.aif)

This happens with the electric guitar track but not with virtual instruments.

I have cleaned the drive, repaired permissions etc thouroughly.

I read up somewhere that Error-39 is a disc space error but that can't be possible because my drive is quite free.

I am using iMac27" intel 2.8 ghz corei5 with 12gb ram on lion 10.7.5. GB version 6.0.5

Can anyone help me with this?

Yes, it is a disk error. You may aloso get this error, if the disk cannot be written to for other reasons than lack of disk space, for example, if your cable is defective, or port/plug has a bad contact. If you are using an external disk, you may want to try a different cable or different usb or firewire port.

Thank you very much Leonie.

It was a drive error. I was under the impression that GB was using the internal HDD but it was actually using a folder of the same name on the extrernal HDD. As soon as I changed to the internal HDD it was fine & yes I did have an issue with the Ext. HDD.

For anyone else with a similar problem I found out from another forum that I had to actually run 'Repair Disk' and not just 'Repair Permissions', which is what I have done now, and it's working fine.
