Can upgrade ipad model mb292ll

How can i upgrade my ipad model mb292ll i had try w itunes but it wont let me is there another way ??help

Sorry, your 16 GB 1st generation iPad can only update to IOS 5.1.1.

Before you begin, update computer iTunes to version 11.

That model is an original iPad. It can run iOS later than iOS 3, but not the current one (iOS 6). Make sure you're running the latest iTunes (11.0), and try updating through iTunes. I believe the original iPad can run iOS 5.
