VPN Server and Android

I've been having a problem with using the L2TP option of the OS X Server's VPN service on my Android. When I go to set up the VPN service on the Android it apparently REQUIRES a certificate even when the OS X Server is set to just accept a Shared Secret. So my problem is how do I get the certificate?? The Android doesn't have it and has no option to retrieve it from the server and the server has been fighting me every step of the way to possibly export one. I'm at the end of my rope on this.

PowerMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8), G4 Quicksilver, 733mhz, 1.25 GB RAM
