add song to playlist iTunes 11????

I must be getting stupid.

Now I've downloaded iTunes 11 and I'm slowly getting around the new interface but maybe I'm dumb but but I can't figure this out.

Simply put I want to add a song to my already created Playlists.

In the old iTunes you'd click Music then scroll down to find the song and then drag it into your playlist. Simple.

Now I can't do that - up on the top left I have a pull down menu and I select Music but then it simply lists all the playlists including Purchased - the problem is some of my songs were imported from other albums. So now I can't simply click Music and see all my songs in one long list and drag into a playlist - sure I can find the song - right click and add it but what a pain!

So either I'm stupid or Apple is really frustrating people with their updates that have screwed up great software - example the Podcast App means that while you are driving and are listening via a input plug into my car sound system - if I get a phone call then the podcast stops (that's good) and then when the call finishes - I have to fiddle with the **** iPhone, find the Podcast app and press play. In the old iTunes system it just started playing again from the place it paused. Like it still does with music but no - not Podcasts

If anyone can answer these questions I'd love to know how to do them cause I've been using Apple products for around 7 years and it's really frustrating how great things go backward.

View, Show Sidebar to get it more like it was in iTunes 10 and you can drag and drop your songs to your playlists

By the way after fiddling I found you need to do some adding but it's on the right and looks very different. Man I need a tutorial after using it for so many years...

Thanks......I had the same problem. Why can't they give some kind of hint or something. I got so frustrated till I just typed to question into google. Backward!

"Help" is actually your answer. Click help at the top of your screen while itunes is open, and start typing in "sync".

If you did what I said, it actually visually shows you, when you move your cursor to the results of the search (menu items). 😝

Two ways:

1. File >> Devices.

or

2. Click your device (upper right), click what you'd like to sync (ie music) on the top bar, select what you want to sync on the page, and press the sync button.

To elaborate on the original, "I just want to add a song" from Bluxx999.

In the SONGS pane, if you mouse-over a song, you'll see an arrow appear to the right of the Name. Click that and then choose "Add To".

Personally, I think that is BRILLIANT. 😎

I was glad to find this answer because I was having the same problem, BUT.... I don't seem to actually be able to drag and drop!! I have my song list on the right and the sidebar on the left, but when I pick up a song to drag it into a playlist - just nothing happens. What is going on?! This is really silly.

I don't know if this has been a recent update, but when you click to drag a song in "song" listing, a playlist menu expands from the right side, allowing you to drag and drop.

I don't think "help" is ever the answer because Apple doesn't include common language like "how do I add song to playlist," but rather has specialized language that no one except for Apple employees and tech geeks know. I have this same issue with all my Apple products and in fact I only got the answer to "how do I add song to playlist" by reading the answers in this thread typed out by HUMANS, with no luck from iTunes itself.

I am having this very same issue... except that I would right click, scroll down to 'add to playlist" and put the song in whatever playlist. I tried doing this with the new update and it doesn't work. The song does not go into the playlist. At least the side bar method works, but I am super curious and frustrated why the "add to playlist" method doesn't work?
