New Hyperlink Color

I am having trouble changing a hyperlink color.

My default is red and I wwant it to be blue.

I create a new hyperlink, modify the font, size, and color as I want.

I "Create Character Style From Selection".

When I use Link Inspector - Enable as a hyperlink - email, it changes font and size, but not color.

The default red is always used.

This happens if I make the text a link first or if I make the changes first and then make it a link.

What am I doing wrong?

Default: My Hyperlink

Desire: My Hyperlink

Muchas Gracias

This baffles me, my text is designated as blue, but the hyperlink overrides it and sets it to the defaullt of red.

georginalester - I just fired up my iPad and previewed the book to take a look at the links. They are all red. Boo Hoo

Wait! I typed too soon. One test hyperlink was correctly formatted & blue. Now I have to figure out why that one instance, and why it does not give correct feedback in iBooks Author. Interesting.

@Fabini - was just going to say Boo Hoo - but then I saw that you have edited your reply! So ....

I haven't been as lucky as you. What appears to be happening for me is all the hyperlinks appear red in iBooks Author. However, one (but not all) of my attempts comes out as I wish after Previewing the book on my iPad.

So I am about to run a test and figure out how I can get my hyperlinks to appear as I wish in both places. I'll post my results.

Do all your reformatted hyperlinks look fine in both places?

Cheers

@Fabini - It does work although I noticed that I had to 'trick' it into believing that I was doing soemthing different. Being completely new to this, I am not sure whether this is entirely accurate but heyho - I can only try! 😉

For some reason when I tried to edit the hyperlink the first time, it wouldn't let me redefine the style but instead thought that I was using the same formatting as "Figure Reference" which of course

I got around it by giving the Figure Reference everything that I didn't want - different colour, removed underline, etc. and then selected something I wanted to hyperlink giving that the format, colour, etc that I did want. That allowed me to redefine the style from selection. That also updated all the other hyperlinks in the book. I have looked at it in Preview but not exported to PDF but it matches on both design display on iBooks Author and on the iPad.

Does that make sense at all?

I am using the Portrait Only - Biography - template.

The modified email links I create show up in the native color red in iBooks Author, but appear in the different color I desire, in this case blue, on my iPad. Otherwise they look the way I modify them. I shall try a completely different template and see if this holds true. Stay tuned.
