Voicemail dialogue box locked my iPhone

My iphone screen is stuck on the locked screen because there is a dialogue box open over it claiming that my voicemail password is wrong. Recently, I have gotten a new iPhone4 and do not know my voicemail password, otherwise this problem would be simple to solve. I am unable to cancel out of the box or unlock the phone. Ironically enough, Apple has made it impossible for me to solve this problem short of calling them or visiting the store. Any suggestions?

I am having the same problem. I've had the phone for about 4 hours and now it's frozen. Can't turn off or anything.

I just got off the phone with Apple and was able to fix the problem by holding down the power button and the Home button at the same time until the phone turns off. This will reset the phone.
