iCloud Sync Add-In Causing Problem highlighting text with my mouse in Calendar, Win 7

I am using a Win 7 with Outlook and syncing via iCloud 2.1 Control Panel my Contacts, Calendar and Photostream with my iPhone and iPad. I noticed today that when I create a new calendar appointment/event on my Win computer, or try to edit an existing calendar entry I am unable to select the text characters by dragging the mouse. I can click into the cell and place the blinking cursor. However when I hold the left mouse button down I cannot drag to select any part of it. I can right click and use the drop down menu to 'select all'. This problem is not occurring in Mail, Contacts or Tasks or in my browsers or in any other Office applications, just Calendar on my Windows system.

When I ran Outlook in safe mode the problem was eliminated. I then restarted Outlook and began to disable my Add-Ins one at a time and found that the iCloud sync Add-In is causing the problem. It doesn't seem to be a known bug. I'm not sure why this is happening on my system in particular? For now, when I do a lot of calendar editing I will just turn off the Add-In and turn it on again when I complete the work. The benefit of having my iPhone, iPad and Windows computer sync outweighs that inconvenience. However, I would like to fix this problem. Does anyone have a suggestions on what to do?

Thanks,

Alyse

I have the exact same issue since upgrading to iCloud 2.1. I have lost the ability to to hilight text inside a calendar appointment using the mouse in the standard way (holding down the left-mouse-button and dragging over the intended text). Control+a and 3 left mouse clicks do hilight all the text as normal. I use Outlook 2010 and WIndows 8.

Another interesting detail: when creating new Outlook calendar appointments, the default font size in the body of the appointment has also changed (it's smaller) after the iCloud 2.1 upgrade.

Hi There,

I first posted my concern on the Micorosoft support discussion board. Here is thelink to that discussion. Another person on the Microsoft discussion board replied to me that she is having the same problem as well. She actually called Apple and they said that they are getting back to her in a few days about what to do. She said she would post the results in that discussion. Other than that, I have found nothing on line about this problem or how to fix it.

Yep, same issue! However, my issue manifests itself in Outlook 2007 on Windows Vista.

The problem does not affect the standard Outlook calendar, but shows up on the iCloud calendar. Keyboard shortcuts for highlighting text does work, but using the mouse does not.

Slightly unfortunate timing of the problem for me as I've just recently rebuilt my PC, and as a result, I thought this issue was with the reinstallation of MS Office, and wasted quite a lot of time focussing there. Took me a while to work out it was iCloud, and finally find this discussion.

I have downgraded back to iCloud 1.1 and it works perfectly. Version 2.1 does not work well with outlook calendar for all the reasons mentioned in this thread (the first couple of posts describe the problem in some detail). Version 1.1 is the answer. You can find 1.1 if you look around a little. I simply uninstalled 2.1 and installed 1.1. Everything now works as expected.

This incompatibility looks like it was no accident. I think they will not be fixing it any time soon.

Come on Apple!!

For months users have complained of this. iCloud 2.1 has screwed up users' ability to use Outlook Calendar properly, notably selcting and copying text. Why do you not respond?

You have made the world a little bit worse for your customers. At least have the courtesy to explain.
