Intuitive song browsing: Waveform on iTunes ?

Hi !

Is there a plugin or an hidden option that shows the full waveform of playing song on Itunes 11 ?

Like that: (most of Itunes competitors use it !.... I would be great on Itunes!)

There is a Visualiser with a spectrum analyzer:

Update: I just tried this on my laptop (iTunes 11, 10.6.8) and it didn't work. I have it on the desktop Mac, which is off at the moment, and has the same configuration but I can't remember if I checked it since updating iTunes: so it may not work for you.

Yes, that's right - I wandered off the subject a bit... this page:

http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/39220/is-there-an-itunes-visualizer-tha t-displays-the-full-songs-waveform

suggests that it's not possible in a visualizer, but someone has suggested an external program: it's not quite what's asked for as it's not integrated with iTunes:

'There is nothing within iTunes that can do this, but there is an external audio editing program called Fission (US $32), from Rogue Amoeba Software, that will display a full waveform for any file in your iTunes library (without the need to convert the file to another format first). Fission has a free trial. Select a song in iTunes, go to

File: Show in Finder
, and then open the revealed file in Fission.'

Of course you could also use other audio editing software in the same way, such as Audacity which is free (though it needs an add-on, 'FFmpeg library', to open AAC files). Fission would be simpler.

The spectrum analyser was useless, i've never seen a simple user or sound designer who used this one (visualisation with shortcut (Apple) + T is better).

Waveform is a real tool to listen music and to visually put the reader head exactly where we want.

I hope Apple developpers will read these lines and realise that's a progress for intuitive songs browsing, especially today when everyone has more than 60 Go of music !

If as me, you need this function, send recommandations to Apple at this link: http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html 😀

More we'll be to contact them, better will be the interest !
