When I click on Bookmarks no History folder appears. How do I fix Safari so it does?

When I select the Bookmarks tab no History option is present. How do I then access my browsing history?

iPad (3rd gen) Wi-Fi, iOS 6.0.1

If you don't have private browsing enabled (i.e. Settings > Safari > Private Browsing is 'off') then if you tap the bookmarks icon then you should get different tabs at the bottom of it for bookmarks, history and reading list.

Private browsing is "Off" but tapping the Bookmarks icon then I get options of a folder for

Bookmarks Bar

Apple Yahoo

Google

Bing

Ipad User Guide

but no History option

At the bottom of the bookmarks do you not get the following :

i.e. bookmarks, history and reading list

I do and the clock sign gives me my history!
