apple tv not playing netflix

I get the legend "netflix is currently unavailable. Try again later"

Any ideas on how to solve this???

Just got to General settings on the Apple TV and select RESTART. It should work fine after restarting the Apple TV

I have tried all these things that you guys have done and nothing works as far as ATV working with Netflix. Everything else on the device works just fine and I can watch full Netflix episodes on my computer with no incidents. When I try to watch Netflix on my TV it will start and then within seconds the screen will go black or the picture will freeze and sound remains. This isn't consistent with every show I watch. I can sometimes get through a whole episode with a crappy low res picture. Seems to happen more on the really popular shows like Breaking Bad or Mad Men. Does anybody have any ideas about what's going on? Right now it looks like I will have to go back to Netflix support and hassle them a little. I really hate this. Thinking about looking for a cheap Bluray player on Craig's List and to stop wasting my time with Apple's product.

I have a Apple TV1 and Netflix doesn't even come up as an option. Went to my netflix account and it wants an activation code. Where do I find that?

I have an atv3 in Canada and had the dns changed, was working fine till I tried it this morning now it says unavailable. If I change the dns back to Canada it's fine. I understand this is an update problem which is exactly the problem I had with my ps3, which is why I got an atv.

Does anyone know how to change this or are we screwed now since my iPad and phone still work no problem.

A week ago I updated the ATV software and now I just get the "Netflix currently unavailable. Try again later." I've tried ever fix I can think of but nothing is working. All other devices (MacBook, ipad1, ipad3) work just fine. Totally annoying.

Same here - this must be an Apple software issue as it works fine on my XBOX. How anyone can suggest it normal procedure to unplug and reset a product is beyond me.

I am also facing the same problem, I get the usual ATV2 message netfilx is currently unavailable. I have tried all the above but nothing seems to be working!!! Help pleaseeeeeee!!!!

this blows Apple really needs to fix this - I call ATT they say the connection/speed is fine, I called netflix and do their little circluar troubleshooting thing and NOTHING. They eventually said to go to apple for troubleshooting and were talking some stuff about restoring factory settings - which I guess I will try next before I go out and buy a different device.

I checked software

I signed out of apple TV signed back in

I rebooted router & airstation

I turned off TV AND ATV

I signed in & out of netflix - again

none of it worked 100% twice it seemed to work at first and went right back to the spinning dial on everything. Restarting ATV seemed to work best so far but there is still this one series I can't play no matter what - its not a big loss or anything, this is just "not what I signed up for", just way too much aggravation when 2 months ago it didn't give me an ounce of trouble for the last couple of years. This whole time Hulu works fine but streaming from itunes is as bad as its always been.

I too have not been able to access Netflix through my Apple TV for about 1 week. YouTube, Hulu, Crackle etc all function normally. I do access Netflix with no difficulties via a Sony Blue Ray Player on my same home wi-fi network. Apparently the new mid November 2013 Netflix "upgrade" WILL NOT function on Apple TV. So currently you cannot access Netflix via an Apple TV and possibly not via any Apple device!! 😮

My understanding is this is due to the fact that Apple does not allow certain aspects of it's operating systems to be accessed by outside developers????

BUMMER!!!! I sure hope Apple and Netflix get together and resolve this issue in some manner as they are certainly going to have some very unhappy customers because of this!

Netflix works with AppleTV. I use it almost everyday. No issues logging in or playing content.

I am also having the same issue with Netflix. It worked great for the month I've had my ATV but now nothing. Works fine on all my other devices. Tried playing it on the computer and "dropping" it on the apple TV--I got a picture but no sound. Really annoying.
