Mountain Lion requires a Late 2008 Aluminum or Early 2009 MacBook, so if you've a supported Mac, open App Store and purchase Mountain Lion. Check if your programs are supported > http://www.roaringapps.com
If it's not supported, call Apple to purchase Lion > http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 Also, you can keep Snow Leopard
