Maps and google

That would be up to Google to release, not Apple. True, Apple would have to approve it for distribution in the app store, but there is no reason they shouldn't do so. There are plenty of other mapping apps out there.

Ask Google when they intend to release one.

Apple had very little choice but to terminate their agreement with Google and come out with their own maps app. Google was refusing to allow the kind of features that customers were demanding (turn by turn directions for one) because they wanted to give Android a leg up.

Try using the Nokia maps app called "here" it's much better than apple maps.

That is not what the article is suggesting

As varjak paw points out, you can find news reports that support whatever you want to hear... The fact is, the old maps app is dead. It's up to google to write one and submit it to the app store if there is ever goig to be one.

That's a good one! When it was released, the tech press said it actually made the new Apple Maps look good!

It is accurate and it has public transport. Get out of your basement and stop reading the tech press perhaps and then you can form your own opinion

I tried it. It may be accurate, but it's nearly unusable.

Its no google maps I grant you but it has everything needed to accurately get you from A to B using public transport or otherwise

There is an app called gwhizz, as far as Apples maps, I won't be using it until it is more accurate than three kms away from where i am. The Australian police are urging peolpe not to use Apple maps

Yes , Google Maps is back in the App Store, with street view, turn by turn navigation, transit info, etc. and you know what? Now that I have gotten used to Apple Maps, I think I prefer them. We shall see with more real life use as I have only been playing around.

armchair users prefer it because flyover looks great

use it for real and you don't want something that just looks good....

This whole debacle is over I hope - my iDevice is useful again - let the competition begin - I really do hope apple maps gives google a run for its money - users, us, me - win win 🙂
