Optimal resolution (1600x900) not available in monitor settings

I've had a SyncMaster Samsung B2030 monitor hooked up to my 2010 MacMini without problems, until recently, when the monitor displays a message saying that the "Optimal Resolution is 1600x900". When I go into Settings > Display: There is no option for me to select 1600x900. When I select "Best for my device" it goes to the minimal resolution, I believe 800x600.

Can anyone please help me restore my display back to it's optimal resolution?

Thanks.

I downloaded the app, but 1600x900 was not an option still. Some of the resolutions seem to kind of work "okay" but they all seem a bit off. I think 1600x900 was what it was set to previously. I'm not sure how it suddenly reverted and stopped working correctly. It's my parents computer so I'm not sure what they were up to over here.

Thanks for your help though.

I'm actually having a similar problem with my ASUS 208 monitor. It's only showing 1280x1024 and 1024x768 and the default setting looks blurry. I know something is wrong because when I plug in my macbook air, my work computer, the resolution is perfect on my second display. However, when I plug in my new macbook pro, its only giving me the options above.

Any suggestions?
