I think on paper, the boxee box is better, more flexible, more formats supported open development plan. I was using a small Windows Revo PC with Boxee on it until the Boxee Box came out. I bought one, and it's buggy as ****. after not being able to get networking working, I got so frustrated I went back to their PC software and gave it to a buddy who didn't need networking. He still says it's buggy though, random restarts etc.

So I was also a beta tester on the new Boxee (not sure what it's called) and subsequently was given a free one of the new unit. I thought cool, let's give them another chance, within 10 minutes of getting it all hooked up, it locked up and had to be hard rebooted. I gave up, unplugged it and it's on my shelf. Currently I am using a Apple TV (mostly for streaming) and the same old Acer Revo but with XBMC on it to play locally stored movies.

YMMV, but for me, twice burned by Boxee is enough. It's a shame though, because I like the additional flexibility of Boxee.
