There should be no problems publishing from iWeb 08 - all you need to do is click on the File option when iWeb is open and select the Publish to a local folder option. You site will then be published from iWeb to a folder on your desktop and you then need to use something like Cyberduck, Transmit or Yummy Ftp which are all dedicated ftp programmes and that is where you enter yoru ftp details and you use these to upload your files to your server. It really could not be easier and is probably more reliable that using the iWeb 09 built in ftp.

As OT has already told you, if you want to upgrade to iWeb 03, then the only way to do this is to purchase either the iLife 09 or iLife 11 boxed set from Amazon. Both of these contain iWeb 09 which is the latest version of iWeb.

I tried that, now the last thing I tried was to move the folder to the desktop, save the changes there and now after using filezilla with no luck..I am trying unlimited ftp...

I begun wondering maybe my version of i web doesnt work with snow leopard?

I upgraded to snow leopard and still have the iweb o8 (2.0.4)

maybe The problem is that

Iweb is not saving the changes I did?

thank you.

I don't quite understand what you mean by "I tried to move the folder to the desktop"?

Did you actually go through the steps that I told you to do?

iWeb will actually save and you can save your work manually, but this will be saved to your domain.sites file, which is your iWeb data file which is found under your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites. Note that it is your User Library Folder and NOT your System Library.

You need to open iWeb and not save or move any folder to your desktop, but your need to select File and then use the 'Publish to a local folder' option and this will then create and publish your html and css files to your desktop.

If Filezilla is not working for you, then try downloading Cyberduck and use this instead. Once you have your site published to your desktop, then there should be no problem at all uploading all your html and css files to your host/server using Cyberduck.

Follow those steps and you should not have a problem, unless of course, you are trying to upload the wrong files? Cyberduck is probably easier to use and might be a better choice than Filezilla.

Also, there is no problem with compatibility and iWeb 08 and Snow Leopard. This only occurs with Moutain Lion as Roddy has already pointed out, but if you are not using Mountain Lion, then it is not applicable, but it works fine with Snow Leopard.

You can upgrade to iWeb 09 - version 3 if you want to, but this means purchasing either the iLife 11 or iLife 09 boxed set from Amazon - both contain iWeb 09, the latest version.

I mean I went to teh library and moved the folder to teh desktop, because I remembered that I did that when I first published out of mobile me...actually this is where all my problem begins, after mobile me is gone, i web is not that easy.

So what I did now is I have the site folder on teh desktop.

I noticed that iweb keeps the red as not published , it used to get on teh same color while published...

Ok, Ill try the cyberduck , I tried to down load it but once I have it and try to open ( in order to drag the icon) and it bounces and vanishes....

Thank you you are helping me a lot.

If you upgrade to iWeb V 3 you will find life a lot easier since you can use the built in FTP...

Its just about as easy as publishing to MobileMe once you set it up.

Here's some info about FTP and a link toYummy Lite which is a lot easier to use than Cyberduck...

You don't need to go to any library and move any folder to the desktop. I'm not surprised that you are having problems as it sounds as if you are trying to publish your domain.sites file and NOT your published website.

Do you understand that you need to open iWeb and then go to File and then select the 'Publish to a local folder' option?

If you do this, then your site folder will be published directly to your desktop and you will have all your html and css files for publishing.

You then use Cyberduck or Yummy ftp to upload all those files to your server/host.

It is no more complicated publishing via ftp than to MobileMe. You just need to ensure that you have the right files.

Ok, I did it like that and yes indeed the folder was automatically placed on the desktop.

Then I tried to upload with Yummy and it worked nicely

I dragged the folders( select them all) inside my iweb site folder to public_htlm...that Is what I rememebered being told to do.

Then it said that the files existed already I chose : replace

And yet the website is the old one the welcome page doesnt change...

what can it be?

Thank you...

thank you..

help!

Dec 26, 2012 9:26 AM in response to Roddy

I did, yes

Now I changed teh name of the previous welcome page, so as to see if it changes for the new one, I keep all the welcome pages as part of my site as an archive but its opening directly on teh old welcome page and not teh one I want to update...along with other changes.

I wonder should I download the site as it is now to upload the one with teh changes.

Another thing i web is asking me constantly is something before never did and is to allow the use of my confidential information stored in my keychain...
