Syncing in Contacts is truly messed up

The syncing in my Contacts is truly messed up. Due to the syncing with iCloud, all my Contacts information has been wiped out. Email addresses, phone numbers, home mailing addresses - all wiped out. The Contacts lists on my iPhone have been repopulated with multiple listings of the same information minus some of the most vital detail information GONE!
