all of a sudden my computer won't recognize the driver for my ipod touch. help !!

I would start with

Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

or

Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
