I am using OS 10.8.2 and iworks 09 and Numbers 09 2.3, been using numbers to develop a spreadsheet, everything working fine, until I created a pie chart.Opened numbers today to do work and I am having issues with software. In short if I try to add new rows below the programme locks up and doesn't respond and I have to force quit. Please help

have you tried opening the document, then creating a NEW document, then copying the data out of the original doc, then closing the original doc, then attempting to continue adding thepie chart?
Also you may want to remove the Numbers preferences file for your user:
1) Quit Numbers
2) navigate to "/Users/<your user name>/Library/Preferences
3) identify the file "com.apple.iWork.Numbers.plist"
4) move this file to the desktop
5) restart Number
